Twinges in Ectopic side during new TWW

Hi all,

So sorry if this has been asked before. I would peruse the forums a bit more but I tend to get triggered if I do that too much.

I had ectopic treated with MTX about 3-4 months ago. I am now in my two week wait to see if I am pregnant again. I am just a couple days post ovulation but panicking as I feel the twinges in the tube where my ectopic was… could this be normal? Has this happened to anyone but had successful outcome? I am so scared.

Thank you

Rachael

Hi ya,

I dont know if it helps but I’ve been TTC for 4 months now and every month I swear I have pain and it causes me to be very anxious. My pain is always on my left side (my only remaining tube). From what I can gather, we tend to be more sensitive to these twinges due to our experiences of ectopic pregnancies.

Hey,

Sorry I don’t have any advice to give, I am 2 months post-MTX, ovulated yesterday and am getting twinges on my ectopic side too. So you’re not alone!

Will be interested to see any other replies that come up

Dear Rachael,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,

Experiencing some pain after an ectopic pregnancy is normal as your body has been through a great deal over the last few months. It is quite common to experience pain following ectopic pregnancy. The pain may be your body preparing to ovulate and many women experience ovulation pain when they did not before their ectopic pregnancy - including myself. You also may have a heightened perception because of the sad loss that you have had to go through.

I would monitor it but if it becomes severe, seek urgent medical advice. If the pain persists, I suggest keeping a pain diary noting when the pain appears, the intensity on a scale of 0-10 and anything that helps the pain eg resting, hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. Visiting your doctors with this information helps them to assess how best to manage your symptoms.

Sending much love,

Karen x
