Hi all - firstly sorry to you all as you’re clearly here for the same awful reasons as me one way or another.
I had a horrific experience in January with ectopic pregnancy resulting in left tube removal.
We never really stopped trying and today I’ve had a positive test. Can’t put into words my emotions - all a roller coaster of pure bliss guilt and being terrified for a repeat.
My question is, do I refer direct to the EPAU to be checked or does this need to be via my GP?
Experience we had was awful with absolutely no information being given at the time so I’m sorry if to anyone this seems like a silly question.
Dear Emma-b,
Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy.
This is not a silly question at all.
You can go via your GP, but you should be able to self refer to your local EPU, remind them of your previous ectopic pregnancy and they should perform a scan at around 6weeks.
I know from personal experience the mix of emotions you are going through and the wait for the scan feels endless.
We are all here for you and I am sending very positive thoughts.
Much love,
Karen x

Congratulations to you! I was told at point of discharge to call the early pregnancy unit when I fall pregnant again - basically to by pass the gp.
If I remember correctly - my ectopic also happened this January like yours - that bloods will be done and then early scan around six weeks.
Hope you are feeling well and can soon enjoy x
Thank you both. I have managed to contact the EPU at a different local hospital to last time (entire experience and treatment was horrendous so really don’t want to go back there). I have a scan booked for Wednesday so hopefully I will be able to breathe a little easier after that. The emotions are up and down at the minute with guilt and happiness waving over each other.
Thank you again for replying X
