I had an ectopic pregnancy on 6th September which resulted in the loss of my right tube. I lost a lot of blood and it was very frightening.
Since it I have recovered well and have just been returning to some normality. However I have just discovered I am pregnant again. Of course it is very wanted and I am delighted especially knowing that my fertility isn’t effected however it wasn’t planned and I can’t believe it has happened. I am also very frightened and need some reassurance.
I’ve had a scan and whilst it was early (only 5 weeks) I was really relieved to find out the baby is growing in the right place. I have another scan tomorrow and I feel really worried about it.
I’ve seen the consultant who operated on me and he was lovely and very reassuring. He told me there’s no risk to getting pregnant so quickly however I am still really anxious and finding it hard to enjoy these first few weeks.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or is anyone pregnant after an epctopic at the moment?
Hi hun, I had an ectopic in June and lost one tube. I am TTC. So pleased for you. It’s amazing that baby is growing in the right place so try not too worry. They just will check how everything progressing. Xxx
Congratulations. It is great to hear that this pregnancy is in the right place.
I think it is a sad legacy of what we have been through with an ectopic pregnancy that we may never really feel relaxed about a subsequent pregnancy, I know I kept assuming something was about to wrong for the entire 9 months I was pregnant after my ectopic pregnancy. It is easier said than done, but please try not to worry. Please use these forums to chat with other women who are also pregnant after an ectopic.
Thank you for your lovely posts. I’m feeling slightly more relaxed after having a 6+4 scan and saw the heartbeat. I cried lots and it was very emotional. I just want to get through the next 6 weeks now!
Good luck to anyone trying - I hope this gives you some sort of hope.
