BFP - What’s next?

Hi, I know it’s probably already been covered on previous posts but what happens after you’ve had your BFP? When do I need to get scanned? From my LMP, I’m 5 weeks. Had my ectopic in March & was treated with expectant management.

Thanks x

Congratulations, I don’t have the answer but was also going to ask the same question, just got a bfp and not sure what the next steps are in the uk, do I call my doctor or local midwifery service and explain I’ve had previous ectopic? Hope someone can answer! X

Congratulations to you both, I got a big fat positive this morning I rang my early pregnancy unit and they have booked me in for a 6 week scan and blood test.

In the interim they said if I experience any bleeding or excessive pain to ring them ASAP.

So tomorrow morning ring your local epu and get your self booked in.

Good luck, wish you both a happy healthy pregnancy.

Congrats to you both too. I had to get referred to my early Pregnancy unit by my GP last time so I’m not sure what to do :see_no_evil: hate having to tell the receptionist as ours want to know everything!

I understand, I was quite lucky my epu said contact them straight away as soon as I fell pregnant again.

Maybe just try and call your epu instead of going through the GP, they may help given your previous ectopic.

I hope it goes well, keep us posted.

Xx

Booked in for a scan, next Tuesday which would make me 7+4 from LMP

Hi Adelelea,

Good to hear you got your appointment, I have mine on Tuesday too, i will be 6w4d. Im getting more and more nervous as the scan day approaches.

Keep us posted with the scan, hope it all goes well.

J xx

Good luck to you too! I’m just dreading hearing those words again :see_no_evil: especially as hubby will be elsewhere with our two children. Just got to hope that this will be our rainbows!

I have an update, all went well at the scan this morning. Phew! Next stop booking appointment then 12 week scan :crossed_fingers:t2:

Dear Adelelea12,

I’m so glad all went well today. Thank you for taking the time to share such positive news and giving hope to so many.

Wishing you a smooth pregnancy and sending much love,

Congratulations to you both!! I have just got my BFP today but would only be 3.3 weeks so will have a wait before I can have a scan. My anxiety levels are so high after losing a tube in May, I have not been able to shake the fear that it will happen again. I’m absolutely terrified but reading your stories has given me hope. I hope you both have very healthy pregnancies. x

Just thought I’d update… we’ve sadly miscarried :sob: as I started bleeding last night. Went for a scan today which confirmed no heartbeat and that baby stopped growing over a week or so ago. Absolutely gutted. Two babies lost in 6 months. Something I never thought I would say after having two healthy & straight forward pregnancies with our two children. At the moment, we’re against trying again so will probably stay as we are.

Good luck to you guys, wish you healthy & happy pregnancies :two_hearts:

Dear Adelelea12,

I am so sorry to hear this, to experience one loss is difficult, to deal with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.

You have been through so much in such a short space of time and you will need space to process what has happened and it can feel isolating. With us here at the Trust, we have been through similar experiences and I can understand how lonely it feels. You have friends here and please do continue to lean on us for as long as you need.

Sending much love and warm hugs,

Thank you both, means a lot. I had a weird feeling something wasn’t going to go right because I lost my pregnancy symptoms last week & didn’t really feel pregnant then when I started bleeding, my heart sank and both hubby & I said this is the beginning of the end. I’m just thankful that I was able to be scanned the same day so that I was aware of what was happening before my body fully got into the swing of miscarrying.
