I had a EP in July which resulted in my left tube being removed.
I have just had a BFP today (a strong line with afternoon wee and I am only about 10dpo) but I am not sure what I should do now. I called my doctors today and she said that unless I had pain then they wouldn’t refer me to EPU and I should just wait for my booking in scan at 12 weeks. :?
This is totally contradictory to what the hospital told me when I was discharged - that I should contact my doctors as soon as possible and that I would get an early scan.
I have told her that and she is going to call them but I know sometimes we need to stamp our feet a little with these things so I was wondering, apart from an early scan, are there any other things I should be asking about to get some reassurance that this isn’t another EP?
Congratulations. I had ectopic in June and got BFP before Christmas. I went to my doctor and asked to do a blood test at least to confirm pregnancy. He didn’t organise a scan for me but I called nearest EPU myself explained the situation and asked for a scan. They said to wait till 6 weeks as before they might not see anything. If you will feel pain or will have bleeding go straight to a&e. They can’t turn you down. Will have to do a scan to make sure you ok. Take care and best of luck. Hope baby is safe in a womb xxxx
So happy to hear you got pregnant so fast, as I had an ectopic a couple of weeks ago with the removal of my left tube.
One thing I learnt from this experience is to trust your body, and if you feel like you want to get checked out then do so, even if you have to go to the Emergency Hospital and overexaggerate on your symptoms. That’s what I would do, and will do next time we get pregnant.
I really get annoyed at the attitude of GPs. When I had my ectopic I was really pale and sweating and said I was bleeding and in pain and she told me it’s normal :? I lost my tube with that pregnancy.
I’m now pregnant again- very nervous and really don’t want to see my GP again
I would insist on a scan and not take no for an answer- after all the hospital tells you that you need early scans on subsequent pregnancies. I think the GPs/EPUs think we want to see if the baby has a heartbeat, implanted but really the worry is if the pregnancy is in the right place and that can usually be seen at 5 weeks.
