Story of hope

March 19 2022 I simultaneously found out I was 7 weeks pregnant with our second baby and that it was ectopic after suffering symptoms (lots of bloating, light spotting, severe stomach cramps and a pregnancy test which showed I was 3+ weeks pregnant despite having had what seemed like a normal period just over a week prior to the test). Had emergency surgery that day to remove the live pregnancy (with a heartbeat) and one fallopian tube and woke up from it feeling utterly broken and lost. In those early days I didn’t know how I would ever feel normal again and the trust in my body was completely gone. We started trying as soon as we could and after a few months of failing to conceive I was just devastated wondering if this would ever happen for us. Despite appreciating that I was so so so lucky to have one child already that yearning to grow my family was REAL. August 2022, took a pregnancy test more just to get the misery over and done with so I wouldn’t find out I wasn’t pregnant again when in the office and my period inevitably started but to my surprise, I was pregnant. I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl in May 2023, a beautiful little sister to my eldest daughter who is now almost 3. In those days after my ectopic when trying to conceive again I clung onto these stories of hope - scouring the forum for them - and promised I would return the favour if ever I were lucky enough to be blessed with a successful pregnancy. I really hope this helps people the way those stories helped me.

Thank you for your story. I am feeling like I am never going to get pregnant after my ectopic.

Can I ask… in your story you said you started your period but you were actually pregnant? Was this just some spotting?
