Sending myself crazy with pregnancy tests- can anyone reassure?

Since I’ve found out I was pregnant I am doing regular tests (I have had miscarriages and one ectopic and I’m incredibly anxious). When I had my ectopic my hcg just plateaued and the fairly faint line on the test stayed they same, not getting darker or lighter on a first response. The same thing is happening again but this time the line is as dark as the control line. Ive been reading that the test line should now become darker though? On my cheap tests the line is still fairly light and not getting darker. I’m so worried this means the hcg has plateaued again. I have a scan booked in in a week and guessing there’s is nothing they can do until then.

Dear Amx,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

Unfortunately the colours of test strips are not a reliable indicator of how pregnant we are.

Even from my own experience, my ectopic pregnancy had a dark positive line, my next pregnancy stayed very faint (same brand) so I was convinced I was having another ectopic but it turned out to be a successful pregnancy.

I know it is difficult not knowing what is going on with our bodies and in these early weeks, all we want is answers, but I would honestly stop testing and wait for your scan.

If you do develop and pains, bleeding or feel dizzy and unwell, please seek urgent medical advice, but for now try to keep your mind busy and active. Reading, box sets, gentle walks are all things that for me through this wait.

We are all here for you,

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x

Thank you for your reply. I hate all the waiting and not knowing. I’m going to step away from the tests and just wait for my scan next week.

Thank you xx
