Maybe pregnant and so anxious

Hi everyone,

I had an ectopic pregnancy last March. During that ‘cycle’, I tested on day 28 and it was negative so I just moved on with life. But then, my period wasn’t coming so I decided to test on day 35 of the cycle and it was a faint positive. After further testing (with fainter and fainter lines) and EPU appointments, I found out it was an ectopic pregnancy and my body was going to miscarry it. My HCG never went above 40.

Today, I am day 28 of my cycle (normal cycle is about 33-34 days). On Premom, I am 8DPO and on Flo I am 10DPO. I have been going through a lot of stress for various reasons so I decided to test early so I can have a negative result and move on with my next problem. Turned out, I tested positive… on 2 different tests. The line was faint but definitely visible on both tests. I am now freaking out and even more stressed than before.

I never had such a visible line, even on day 35 last time I tested. So I started imagining every possible ways that this might be going wrong. Maybe my HCG level is way higher than normal and that’s why the line is a little darker? Maybe this is an indication of another ectopic!

Has anyone tested early and found a visible line? Is this a sign of another ectopic?

Dear Lyn,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

It is possible to have a positive pregnancy test before your period is due. Home pregnancy tests can be very sensitive and pick up low hCG levels which is a positive.

I would advise to follow our usual advice of booking an early pregnancy scan for 6 weeks directly through your EPU or via your GP.

Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, sadly I do have to remind you to seek urgent medical advice with any abdominal pain, bleeding or you feel dizzy and unwell. If you have any concerns or questions, please speak to your GP or medical team.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x
