Pregnant again after ectopic tube removal

So, I just found out I’m pregnant again after having salpingectomy 3 months ago for a tubal ectopic. I thought I was just being neurotic when I started feeling queasy and sore breasts. My early scan is booked for a week and a half away and I’m terrified it’ll be ectopic again. I’ve been having mild abdominal pain on the right side and middle where the laproscopy was. The EPU didn’t seem too concerned but I was wondering if anyone who had conceived after salpingectomy had experienced pain. They did keyhole on both sides as they werent sure of the location. Hopefully that’s it!

Dear Fmc122,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

It is good to hear that you already have an early scan booked and although the discomfort you are feeling maybe normal, as pain is subjective, I would always advise speaking to your GP. Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, I sadly have to remind you that if you experience any unusual bleeding,

worsening abdominal pain, shoulder tip pain, bladder or bowel problems or feel dizzy and unwell to seek urgent medical advice.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x
