Hi
I’m 10 weeks pregnant from IVF, after an IVF ectopic last September at 12 weeks. Last year was harrowing, and I sought comfort in these forums. Thank-you. My ectopic baby was found after 4 scans in my left tube- I kept getting sent away- it was traumatic. I lost my left tube and we lost our baby.
I am so happy to be pregnant but as I write that I can’t feel the happiness because I am so anxious about the pregnancy, even though I had a 7 week scan and all was fine. I had 2 blastocysts implanted and one survived. I initially panicked thinking the other would be ectopic but they reassured me that it just did not take. After being sent away last year with ectopic symptoms I have less faith in hospitals but know this is irrational.
Seeing the heartbeat was amazing. I have a 12 week scan soon. We go away on holiday in just over a week for my 40th birthday and my party is 2 days before my scan. I want to announce to the rest of my friends then, but will not have had the 12 week scan.
It’s £99 for a private scan. My head can’t justify doing it, but my anxiety and desire to know and accept I’m pregnant is getting the better of me! I really want to feel excitement about being pregnant, but after the trauma of last year, anxiety and residual grief are dominating. I don’t know wether to pay for a scan. I would if it were £50 but £100 is steep.
I’d say go for it, you can’t put a price on the way you feel and it will give you the confidence to tell everyone at the party and really enjoy it xxx
I’m also pregnant after an ectopic in September, I’m getting an ache on my left side which was where it happened I didn’t get my tube removed as miscarried from my tube, so had keyhole surgery to remove remaining tissue. I keep getting sore back like period pains is this normal ? I’m 6 weeks tomorrow that’s when I started bleeding last time. So anxious I just want everything to be ok this time
Hi there! After our ectopic and tube removal we paid £400 to have our 12wk nauchal scan and it was the best money we ever spent. The This Is My clinic in Leeds were brilliant. Explained everything to us and packed us off with about 8 photos. They took my bloods and 3 days later called me to say all genes etc were fine and did I want to know the sex. So we confirmed our little XY boy was growing. Went back at 21 wks for nhs. Don’t get me wrong £400 was a lot and we drew out of our savings but the reassurance we both had was amazing. So wether it be £100 or £400. If it make you feel better do it. X
Thanks for your replies. Nice to see others getting private scans. I’m still deciding.
As for the aching sensation where your ectopic was; I’ve been having that also. Phoned the EPU for reassurance. Might just be scar tissue. My back ached at 6 weeks too. If pain gets worse with bleeding go to hospital.x
Hi, I’m 6 weeks PG after having tube removed with eptopic a few months ago. Also feel aches on side where tube was removed (right) and on the side with the biggest scar (left). Having feelings in both sides is funnily a little reassuring…looking forward to getting an EPU appointment scheduled on Monday. On discharge after key hole surgery I was told I could self-refer if I get pregnant again but now they say I must go through midwife. If I can’t get an appointment easily through the midwife I will consider paying private (it’s £100 here, I needed to use the service for a miscarriage two years ago).
Hoping things continue to work out well for all in this thread x E
That’s so bad. I’ve had an early scan already to show it’s not ectopic after bloods showed it would show up on scan. I’m 5 plus 3, 5 plus 1 according to scan xxx
Great to know they will do the scan this early. I will push for it to happen this week. I feel vey different to the eptopic so I’m not too worried. I didn’t know I was pregnant with eptopic as had periods (x2). Come on little one, get in the right place and stay there
They saw the yolk sac in the womb at that stage. It was too early for a heartbeat when I had it xxx
I didn’t know I was pregnant until last day of my period as tests were negative on day started it. I did a test as a fluke. I knew it was ectopic when I started getting pain Thursday night and worse on the Friday and bleeding, surgery on the Saturday. This time I tested positive at 9/10 dpo xxx
Midwife was lovely (as they usually are) and I have scanned booked for Thursday xxx
