Pregnant after ectopic

I had an ectopic pregnancy early last year and had my right tube removed. Today I found out I was pregnant again. I’m really scared that it will happen again, every twinge gets me really worried. Going to ring the Dr tomorrow to get an appointment but I can’t get excited because the worry is taking over. I don’t know how to destress. Has anyone had a healthy pregnancy after an ectopic that can help me feel better? Thanks in advance

Hi, i just want to wish you all the luck in the world, and i really hope it’s positive news for you! I had an ectopic in December last year and had my right fallopian tube removed. This weekend myself and my partner started ttc again and i am so excited but nervous! I really hope you get good news. X

Thank you and good luck to you

Dear aimee1987,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

Usually doctors carry out an internal transvaginal scan at around six weeks with subsequent pregnancies after an ectopic. This is because there is a reasonable chance at six weeks of seeing an embryo around this six week mark. We would advise self referral to your local EPU and remind them of your previous ectopic pregnancy. If you cannot self refer, please contact your GP who will be able to refer you.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x

Thank you for replying. I was at the hospital yesterday adn had some checks done and blood taken, my HCG was 112 which theh Dr said was fine for 4 weeks but I couldn’t help but worry. I have to go back tomorrow to see what it is then. After that he said I might be able to have a scan so will have to wait and see. That’s what I hate, the waiting.

Best of luck

I had ectopic in August and im currently wait to ovulate and try for the first time. Hope to get that bfp
