Hi all I had an self resolving ectopic Oct/Nov last year have just found out I’m pregnant roughly 4-5 weeks ever since I found out I’ve been having slight pains in old ectopic side , is this normal I sometimes think I’m imagining it , but I have always had a few pains ever since so confusing , last time I was bleeding and haven’t yet!!! Anyone experienced the same ? I have a scan next week xx

However, I know what a worrying time this can be. As you’ve had a previous ectopic, it is good that you have scheduled yourself for an early scan.

Smithj11 I am really sorry to hear about ur pregnancy loss. I hope everything goes well with ur pregnancy this time. I had a miscarriage Im October 14 and a ectopic/ miscarriage ( they weren’t sure which one it was) in March 15. Where I had bad pains in my suspected ectopic side and I would still feel pains there afterwards especially during ovulation time. I conceived a 3rd time in December 15 and before I got my 6 wks scan I remember getting similar pains on the same side n I worried it was telling me something could be wrong again but luckily everything went well at my 6 wks scan and I now have a healthy 17 Months old baby girl. So the pains I was feeling were just stretching pains of my uterus I think n after an ectopic they say ur sense of pain is heightened which is why I could always tell when I ovulating each month, where I never use to.
Obviously everyone’s medical history n pregnancies are different but I just wanted to tell you what happened to me if it can give u any hope and comfort. Fingers crossed for you that you get a happy 6 wks scan result. I’m praying for you.

I am also sorry to hear about your loss and whispered congratulations to you for this pregnancy. I have also just found I am pregnant after an ectopic three years ago (had my right hand tube removed). I have been getting pains but on the other side, where my remaining tube is, which feels new to me - I usually get them on the same side as the ectopic since I had mine. I am concerned but am hoping these are just ‘normal’ pains. Hard to know having never had a ‘normal’ pregnancy before! Did you loose a tube or do you have both? I am really glad you have managed to book a scan. How many weeks in will your scan be? I am in the process of trying to book a scan. I called my EPAC clinic and they said to get my doctor to refer me. I have always been told you could book direct, so I am feeling rather miffed!

Starfish12 mine self resolved so I kept my tube , I had been having pains in it after it had resolved just every little bit off pain you panic it’s horrible isn’t it , I really hope everything works out for you , I have a scan tues will update xx

That’s great you have got a 5 week scan- I have been referred for a 6 week scan but am worried if I am having another’s ectopic it might be too late. Are they going to test your HCG levels? Wondering when it is usual for them to test your bloods. Do you know?

I had an ectopic in December last year with removal of my right tube and confirmed a pregnancy (very early only 4 weeks today) again.
I have had pain and twinges on my left, small amount of spotting yesterday and worked myself into such a state. I work in a maternity unit so I confided in a doctor and they did a TV scan but of course too early to see anything so I had my HCG levels checked and am having them repeated tomorrow. Fingers crossed this time but I have already convinced myself it’s happening again 
So I can totally identify with how you feel

Feel for you Rach_11. Hang in there. Sounds like we are all in a similar boat. I am going up to EPAC in the morning as I have developed new symptoms today and others have returned but stronger. I am 4 weeks and 4 days. Feel convinced its an ectopic too.

Hi I had my scan and at first they couldn’t see anything any where then last minute they saw a tiny sac in the womb but couldn’t confirm that it was a sac , so they done 48hr bloods and my hcg more than doubled so looking more positive that it was a very early sac and I was just earlier than I though , funny I was having such bad pains in my right side but as soon as they said couldn’t see anything in my tubes it decreased I think it’s normal after an ectopic to be more aware off every little twinge and pain , I have another scan week Monday to check for heart beat but am in far better position than I was last year, thanks so much everyone and I hope everything goes well for you all xx
Rach 11 hang in theyre I was so convinced I was going to go in for scan and be taken for Surgery as the pain was quite bad on my right side and right into my belly, but turns out I ovulated from the left anyway, it’s very hard I no and ur constantly checking and worrying , please let me no how you get on xx
Smithj1, that’s really hopeful they think the can see a sac in the womb, fingers crossed for you. Are they going to re-scan you soon?
I had a scan yesterday and packed some things as I was convinced I would be diagnosed with an ectopic and end up in surgery later that day. I was 5 weeks. It turned out they could see a yolk sac in the womb! This means that it it highly unlikely it is an ectopic, however the consultant said we can’t rule out a twin pregnancy with one in womb and one in a tube, and as my hcg levels were on the higher side, he wasn’t to re-scan me in 9 days a week Monday to rule this or a molar pregnancy out. He said however that in all likelihood it is simply a normal pregnancy developing well. So I am incredibly relieved and have begun to relax for the first time since I knew I was pregnant. I have found this past 10 days one of the hardest times of my life and was concerned I was going to pass out from a rupture and maybe die, or lose my last tube from surgery (especially as hcg levels were on the high side it meant that methotrexate would prob not be an option).
I have found it odd that some medical professionals seem to do HCG levels and others prefer not to as they say it can Muddle the picture.

I’m being rescanned on the 9th where I should be just over six weeks so they can check everything is progressing , let me no how you get on xx
Mine was 1145 on the Tuesday then 2545 on the thurs xx
Just an update had scan today we have a heart beat and all is in the right place really hope every one else is doing ok xx much love xx
OMG smithj11 that’s amazing news! Congratulations! We also had a repeat scan today and saw a heartbeat too! Looks like things are all fine. So happy for you and hope everyone else is doing ok x
