Pain and twinges

Had my tube removed following a rupture a few months ago.

I think I am about 5+2 weeks and I was having twinges on both sides last night more on where my tube had been taken and cramping aches - it feels like I I’m about to start my period those sort of feelings. I’m booked in for a scan Friday at 5+6 but thinking about calling the EPU to see if can get in earlier with the twinges. Will there be something to see at 5+3/4 or should I wait it out until Friday? What’s peoples experiences been?

Also managing the anxiety from now until then is so difficult I don’t know what to do with myself

Hey, just wondering how you got on? I am in exactly this position now, about 5+3 and early scan next Monday. I constantly on and off have twinges and aches. GP didnt seem concerned but after last time, it is very worrying!

Dear lisa,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have friends here who understand how you are feeling.

I am glad you have your early scan booked in. Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, I sadly have to remind you that if you experience any unusual bleeding, abdominal pain, shoulder tip pain, bladder or bowel problems or feel dizzy and unwell to seek urgent medical advice.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x

Hi Lisa,

I have had two scans so far a bit early for the first scan but they thought they could see something in the right place but went back 10 days later and ruled out ectopic there was growth and a yolk sac in the right place but unsure whether they could see foetal pole so I’m back again tomorrow where I will be 9 weeks - I’m measuring a lot smaller in scans but midwife’s don’t seem too worried as it’s so difficult to be accurate so early on. But in regards to the aches and cramps I think it was related to becoming pregnant so soon after the surgery and ligament pain which is normal in early pregnancy. It’s so difficult though given what we have been through to not tune in to every ache and pain. All the best for tomorrow let us know how you get on x

Turns out I’m having a miscarriage after all that - wow the universe must hate me

Hey there,

Just wanted to say that I’m really sorry for what you’re going through. Life really sucks sometimes, but you’ve got nothing to deserve that.

Take care. Cam x
