4 weeks pregnant and terrified...

I’m four weeks today. I had an ectopic last September so it’s only been 4 months since I had my right tube removed.

Long story short I am literally petrified incase it happens again and I’m left infertile. Any little twinge or slight ache I get I’m panicking.

Did anyone else have any dull aches or twinges around their scar and everything was ok?

I’m booked in for a placement scan on Friday 19th at 5 weeks 4 days but every hour feels like a week at the moment.

Would just like to add as well my remaining tube was checked and the doctor said it’s healthy but I’m starting to think that doesn’t count for much.

Dear Lolly_lew17,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

I know it seems like a very long time to wait but usually doctors carry out an internal transvaginal scan at around six weeks with subsequent pregnancies after an ectopic. This is because there is a reasonable chance of seeing an embryo around this six week mark.

Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, I sadly have to remind you that if you experience any unusual bleeding, abdominal pain, shoulder tip pain, bladder or bowel problems or feel dizzy and unwell to seek urgent medical advice.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x

Hi Lolly

I was convinced I was having another ectopic. Similar aches and pains just not as bad or localised as my last ectopic. Turns out I had a cyst on my left ovary which was feeling like an ectopic. I had an early scan and its in the womb. I agree that the next few weeks is the toughest time as I have just gone through it. I overthought every niggle and even packed my bag when I went for the scan as I was ready to have surgery to remove my remaining tube. Chin up and thinking of you and wishing you all the luck in the world. xxxx
