My story

Hello everybody,

My name is Vanessa, I live in the Midlands and am 36 years old.

I had surgery approx 3 weeks ago to remove a ectopic pregnancy, and my story is very similar to that of others that have posted on the forum.

I started having pains quite early in the pregnancy, approx 3 weeks, and dismissed them as some sort of virus or bug as they subsided after a couple of days. I then started what I thought was my normal period, but when the bleeding persisted and the pains returned I decided to visit my doctor.

I never even considered that I could be pregnant, so the doctor started treating me for a possible infection and thought it could be an ovarian cyst.

However certain symptoms, sore breasts, nausea etc led me to do a home pregnancy test, which showed positive. So started a series of visits to A&E, blood tests and examinations/scans.

I was admitted for surgery the day after my scan, which resulted in partial removal of my tube and of course, the baby.

I have experienced so many emotions over the last few weeks, fear, relief & sadness to mention a few. It’s reassuring to see others have experienced the same and that I’m not alone at this traumatic time.

Love and best wishes to all xx
