Medical Management

Hi there,

Not usually the posting on forums type but feeling at a bit of a loss.

Went to A&E 6 weeks pregnant with heavy bleeding, no pain. Bloods confirmed miscarriage was sent home and told to return to EPU 2 days later. Went to EPU hcg dropped but only a little so they thought it was a PUL. Hcg then started rising though so was treated as a potential ectopic with methotrexate.

I’m now 6 weeks on, thought I was coping but now not so sure. Hcg now risen again. Feel like my body is useless and feel totally out of control with it all. I’m trying to stay strong and believe that this time the pregnancy just wasn’t meant to be but its hard. Partner, family and friends have all been a great support throughout the whole ordeal but they are just as confused as I am.

Dear Becky,

Please take your time to heal … don’t rush yourself … it’s 6 weeks for me, got another 2 weeks off … sometimes it’s comforting to know your not the only one taking time to recover, it feels ok. I was trying to rush myself as I read it can take 3 weeks to recover on a site. Take each day as it comes and rest. Xx

Hi Beckylouise_93,

I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve experienced this ectopic pregnancy and loss. You’ve experienced a physical and emotional trauma, and it is very normal to feel a mix of emotions and even a desire to get back to normal and move on.

The most important thing you can do is to look after yourself right now, and to continue to monitor your symptoms. As I’m not medically qualified, I can not comment on your specific symptoms. However, as you are concerned, it’s right to visit your GP or EPU for more information on the rising hcg. While I do not want to alarm you, it can be possible to rupture with low/falling hormone levels (under 5mIU/mL is considered no longer pregnant) and it would be important to get the care that you need to be on the safe side.

I know its challenging to say try to rest and recover, but where you can do so it’s very important. Please know this is a safe space for your thoughts and concerns, and we are here for you for as long as you need.

With good wishes,

Michele

Thank you for the replies.

Repeat hcg today is less than 5 so thats it, pregnancy is officially over. Physically better but emotionally not so. I’ll get better in time I know, been through enough already to know time is the greatest healer.
