Just need to get things off my chest. 2nd round of IVF and we got our positive on Feb 24th after having a double embryo transfer on the 14th Feb.
HCG wasnt doing as it should. Had a scan on 13th March to be told they couldnt see anything. Went into hospital on 17th March as i was in incredible pain. Went in for emergency surgery. They had to remove my left ovary and they cleared out the lining of my uterus.
2 weeks later and the pregnancy test it still postive. Scan shown an empty sac hiding in the top right of my uterus. My consultant decided to let nature take its course and wait for my period.
Ive had my period. Was not like my normal one. Not as painful or heavy.
Had a call from the hospital last week to be told that pathology did not find a pregnancy in any of the tissue they removed during my surgery. HCG begore surgery was 2987 and then 36 hours later was 725!!
My head is all over the place. I want an explanation as to why it happened. I know its “just one of those things” but it feels like im being punished.
All i want to do is stay in bed and cry. Im struggling to get anything done at work or at home. I dont know what to do
Dear Raspberrysorbet,
I am sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss. When we experience ectopic pregnancy, we are suddenly faced with a life threatening emergency and it’s treatment, concerns about the future and the loss of our baby. Experiencing any one of these is an ordeal, putting them together is immense and your feelings are completely normal. Your body is also recovering from surgery and this is an ordeal in itself.
I wonder if your ectopic was the top right side of your uterus which is why there was no pregnancy tissue following your surgery. Your hCG levels are reducing, so hopefully you will not need any further treatment.
For now, be kind to yourself and allow time to grieve and heal both physically and emotionally. We will be here for you for as long as you need.
Sending much love and gentle hugs,
Karen x

Thank you so much for responding!
The surgeon said my ovary was bleeding and they saw it on the scan.
I just feel like there is no hope anymore.
I understand you feeling like there is no hope, especially after having IVF, are you in a position to be able to speak to your fertility team about the future?
Take things day by day at the moment, however if your down days start to outweigh the good, please speak to your GP or a member of your medical team.
We also have email support and a telephone call back system if you want more personalised support (details below). We will simply be here for you for as long as you need.
