Hi,
I had an ectopic pregnancy in September 2019 for which I underwent a surgery to remove my left fallopian tube. After surgery my periods resumed normally.I had a cycle of 35 days after surgery for the next two months(without counting the first period which is pregnancy withdrawal bleeding)but my third cycle is already 43 days due and I did not get my periods yet.I met my GP who did a sonogram and blood test to check my prolactin levels which are normal. The sonogram report said I am about to get my periods because the endometrium thickness is about 9mm and echogenic. If this period delay is due to ectopic surgery and is it normal?.Is there some way to get my periods naturally for this cycle ?
Dear Sruthi_Ganesh,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss,
Periods can be delayed for a number of reasons including stress or even (as surprising as it may sound) excessive exercise or weight loss. Doctors normally consider menstrual cycles of between 23-42 days to be within normal parameters. I am not aware of anything you can do to regulate periods, generally, we and many healthcare professionals advise keeping a healthy balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight and abstaining from alcohol and smoking.
Sending much love,
Karen x
