Hcg levels post surgery

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before. I had an ectopic which resulted in my right tube being removed. This was 3 weeks and 1 day ago. They told me after 3 weeks to do another test to make sure it’s negative so I did this morning and it’s positive, no chance it’s a new pregnancy. After my surgery I bled heavily for 2 days and then light for another 2 days and that was it.

My hormones levels pre surgery were 7000 so does anyone have any idea how long they take to come down. I’m just concerned as there was concern if my pregnancy was ectopic. There was a 10cm mass blocking the view properly to my uterus when I had my scan, then another doctor did an Internal with her hand and said there was no way this was an ectopic and then all of a sudden someone else loomed at my notes and said defitnely ectopic and rushed me in to surgery. So my head is all over the place now. I’m waiting to go to hospital now for bloods etc but I just wondered if anyone has heard of anything similar

Thanks

Jess

Jess,

You’ve been through such an ordeal. I can only imagine how hard it has been to have different diagnoses in that short period of time. I’m sorry you’ve had to go through all of this.

As every woman is different , it is difficult to give an average time of how long it takes for HCG levels to drop. I know it can be incredibly frustrating to wait for HCG levels to fall. You’ve been through an emotional and physical ordeal and often, we are eager for daily life to resume as normal.

As you are concerned, it would recommend reaching out to the hospital (at the time of your blood work or before) or your GP to speak about these concerns. As your levels are not yet under 5mIU/ml, it is so very important to look after yourself during this time.

Please know we are here for you and thinking of you.

With good wishes,

Michele
