HCG levels

Hi everyone.

So I was 6 weeks post surgery where they removed my ectopic pregnancy and left tube. There was no sign of my period and so I decided to take a pregnancy test in the hope that my period would come soon. It said pregnant. I left it 2 days and then did a clear blue digital which said pregnant 2/3. Left it 6 more days and then did another one saying pregnant 3+ indicating an increase in my hcg. Is it possible to still have increasing levels 8 weeks post surgery ?

Hi I would contact you Early pregnancy unit. I suffered from an Ectopic last year and left tube removed and was told to call if my pregnancy test showed a positive 3 weeks after surgery.

I am in a similar situation. I had an ectopic about 6 weeks ago and lost my left tube. About 3 weeks ago, my HCG was at 10. I believe I ovulated and still have not gotten my period. I took a test and it was positive. I had a blood test done and my level was 23. I have to wait another week and do another blood test as no one seems to really know what that means. Just wondering what ended up happening with your levels and positive pregnancy test

Dear Lara aherne,

Following ectopic pregnancy, it can take a few weeks for hCG levels to fall to non pregnant levels, which may explain your positive pregnancy test.

Your surgery was over a month ago and it maybe possible that blood tests are still showing hCG from ectopic pregnancy. However, as I am not medically trained I am unable to comment on why they continuing to show positive.

Although I do not wish to alarm you, I would like to gently remind you to seek urgent medical attention if you experience any unusual bleeding/pain/increased body temperature.

Sending much love,

Karen x
