Have I just overdone it?

Hey all

I had surgery 13 days ago, after a very traumatic ruptured ectopic, which resulted in having my right fallopian tube removed.

I have been feeling okay physically since about day 8/9 and for the last 4/5 days have been doing things I would normally do. Lifting heavy things & carrying my 2 1/2 year old son around.

Today I have been having a ‘pressure’ feeling when going for a wee, like it feels like I really have to push to get a wee out. I also have had a dull ache in my right side now for a few hours with the occasional shooty pain.

I think maybe I have just over done it & am doing too much too soon.

Has anyone felt these things before 2 weeks after surgery?

Thank you! x

Dear BTxo,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss,

Following surgery we do generally advise to take things easy for around 6 weeks with a gradual increase in exercise and lifting. Your body will be using its energies to heal internally. It is normal to feel physically and emotionally exhausted during this time and please do be kind to yourself. Recovery can take time and some days will be better than others, one day you maybe ok and the next you maybe in discomfort or more emotional. This is perfectly usual and the healing process will go back and forth in this way for however long you need. It is important to listen to your body’s signals and pain and feeling tired are your body’s signs to tell you to rest. We suggest keeping a healthy balanced diet, drinking lots of water and resting. Once your wounds have healed, very gentle exercise such as a short walk can help, but please do take this slowly.

We have more information on our website which I have copied here-

Your symptoms could be your body telling you that you have done too much and to ease back, however they could be other symptoms such as a urinary tract infection (UTI), so if your symptoms continue or worsen, please seek medical advice
