Gush of blood, 4 weeks pregnant (11DPO)

I had an ectopic on my right side treated with MTX in October 2023. I just got a positive pregnancy test today (11DPO - and 4 weeks to the day from the start of my last period). I am nervous because i feel light cramping on my left side, and when I just went to the bathroom there was a gush of bright red blood (which is now gone and hasn’t been seen since). With my first ectopic, I didnt get a positive pregnancy test right away, and I spotted for a few days before I saw bright red blood, that eventually became brown (and had more intense of a pain- on my right side). Could what I am experiencing now be another ectopic?! Is it possible to have ectopic bleeding this early? I’d also like to mention that I had an HSG last month and both my tubes were open. Thank you so much in advance for reading, and any insight you provide is most helpful!

Dear TCCC28,

Whilst bleeding in ear!g pregnancy can be normal and many women go on to have a successful pregnancy with these symptoms, as you have had bleeding and are experiencing pain, I would advise seeking medical advice just to be on the safe side. As it is the weekend, if you are in the UK, I would advise speaking to NHS 111. If your bleeding returns or you experience pain or become dizzy and unwell, please attend A&E.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x
