Hi all, I’m very new to all of this.
I have a history of Miscarriages, My first in October 2013 a MMC, Then birth of my baby boy June 2015, Miscarriage June 2016 and ectopic Feb 2017. I was 6.5 weeks pregnant with the Ectopic. I had no symptoms other than spotting, I was devastated attending EPAU again, but was half expecting to be diagnosed with a miscarriage again! My world fell apart when the scan lady really started prodding about and apologising. She told me it was an ectopic and growing in my tube with a strong heartbeat… The rest of that day is an emotional blur!
I had surgery that day, they removed my right tube and also told me they had to use gauze to graft my uterus. My left tube is apparently flat (Nothing on discharge note) and I was told to wait two years before TTC again.
My question is has anyone else been through this or had the gauze graft, I just need to know what to expect if I ever do manage to get pregnant again?
My GP cant answer my questions and I’m waiting to be referred back to hospital but I doubt they will see me as it stated on the discharge note no follow up needed. I’m just do confused and lost…
Thank you for reading my very long post.
Hi Laura 83 I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I’ve had 3 ectopics now and 1 possibly 2 miscarriages (In and out of EGU at mo) after my 2nd ectopic my discharge notes said no follow up either but you’ve got to push it. I rang up and asked for one as I wanted them to look into why this keeps happening. Turns out a junior who had nothing to do with me discharged me and should’ve arranged a follow up but I wouldn’t have known that if I didn’t push it.
They investigated by doing a hycosy x-ray (she flushed in tubes) this showed a possible swelling distended tube called hydrosalpinx. So had a diagnostic lap to confirm and remove but all was well tube was fine. 2 years is a long time to wait and have explained why. What are they expecting to happen in 2 years? I’d definitely push for an appt and if they give you a date months away ring up and get one earlier. I did as I thought I can’t wait that long if I was to accidentally get pregnant with a faulty tube surely that’s dangerous. Amazingly after I threatened to go private my 4 month wait became 2 weeks. You really have to be forceful with them sometimes. Good luck and hope you get some answers xxx
Sorry just noted a few errors there dye flushed not she. And sorry I’ve not heard of the graft gauze. I was told on my last ectopic that my remaining tube was skinny and should be removed. This was whilst I was in recovery room still out of it. I was confused as I must’ve had my daughter on my left tube as my right was removed before. So how can it suddenly be skinny and need removing. They never mentioned this when they did the diagnostic lap on that same tube. My consultant said the size of my tube made no difference as long as it’s healthy. So get a 2nd opinion ask to be investigated. Sorry to go on but I feel passionate about this and am fed up with being robbed off by Drs… All my love and hugs xx
