Confused.. what should I do???

Hi everyone this is a really hard subject for me but I feel having people write back might help me in some way.

I have been trying for 3 years now and during those 3 years I have had 3 ectopic pregnancies and 3 miscarriages within a year and a half of the period we had been trying.

I had 2 ectopics on my left side and had a Hycosy which gave no indication of any blockages. My egg reserve is fine and uterus all working perfectly… however not long after the hycosy I find out I’m pregnant again, another ectopic which has started internal bleeding but not my left this time on my right!! I couldn’t believe it! I had to have surgery but was adement before I went in that they must save my tube. The surgeon spoke to me afterwards and said I saved it for you however we would still advise in the future to have it removed because the damage is so bad. They said my left tube from the outside looks normal but they cannot comment on the inside functioning because they couldnt see. Due to the other 2 ectopics from that side I would presume there not too good! The surgeon went on to say that risking to naturally conceive shouldn’t really be an option for me due to both tubes now with history of ectopic. He advised me to have IVF however it’s very expensive.

Has anybody had ectopics before without any surgery and got pregnant from that same tube? I’m trying to hold on to the hope that maybe my left tube will be okay and possibly I could conceive naturally?

Thank you for taking the time to read x

Hi Ca90,

My heart goes out to you having to endure all that you have been through. You have gone through so much in such a short period of time. Ectopic pregnancies are both physical and emotional traumas.

I can understand how frustrating it is not to have clear answers on the cause or the certainty for the future. Ectopic pregnancies are so often without the predictive causes; there is nothing we did to cause them, nor anything we can do to prevent them.

While I’m not medically qualified and cannot comment on your specific question, you may want to speak to your GP about getting a 2nd opinion. It may help you understand the opinions available to you, and whether there are any cost effective options.

Just remember you’ve been through so much, and taking time to look after yourself and to rest is so important. We are here for you any time and for as long as you need.

With good wishes,

Michele
