Hi All,
In the month of Feb,2019 i was identified that i have a cervical pregnancy and doctor suggested us to terminate the pregnancy. In the process of Termination doctor gave “Metrotrexate” injection and followed by surgical cleaning on 7thMarch,2019. After the process we continuous monitored the beta HCG levels for 1 month, which showed 5.25 value on 28th March,2019. On April 4th we have taken pregnancy kit test which showed Negative results.
Today i.e 15th May,2019 we had pregnancy test which gave Positive Result and doctor confirmed saying am pregnant and am able to hear the Heart Beat. Please help me out whether to continue the pregnancy because my doctor says, there should be atleast 3 months of gap after taking Methotrexate drug, if not there may be a chance of Birth Defects.
Please suggest me with any experiences and any valuable suggestion is greatly accepted.
Dear Ramvyshu,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy and loss and and whispered congratulations on your pregnancy.
We and many health professionals recommend that you should wait until your hCG levels have fallen to below 5mIU/mL and then take a folic acid supplement for 12 weeks before you try to conceive. This is because the Methotrexate may have reduced the level of folate in your body which is needed to ensure a baby develops healthily. Having said this, you do not know how low your levels are and as I am not medically trained, I cannot give you specific advice. I would make an appointment to discuss this with your doctor, it is possible that they could test the level of folate in your blood, which may reassure you.
I am so sorry that this is such a worrying time, but do talk this through with a medical professional.
Sending much love,
Karen x
