Adding my story

I’m Emma I already have 2 children and found out we was expecting a surprise baby, we took a few days to get our head round things. Started to get excited, told our family, told close friends. Everyone was happy.

9 days later last Thursday I was took into EPU with bleeding, our local unit was busy so was told if I wanted to be seen i would have to drive 1hr to the next unit in glasgow, a scan showed no visible pregnancy, I had bloods took and was sent home. Friday I had a phone call as they was concerned with my blood levels being very high and to return Saturday for more bloods a scan and possible surgery. I returned for more bloods first thing was told to wait for results, after the results I was told to go home as they had decided I was miscarying, I wasn’t give a scan. We went home I was woke up at 1am with sharp pains. After ringing the numbers given by the EPU to ring out of hours be told I was nothing to do with them and if I wanted to be seen I had to go to A&E. I arrived at a busy Glasgow A&E at 2am and added to the back of the queue. Eventually a Dr from gyonclogy ward saw my case a pulled me from the A&E queue she was fantastic and went beyond anyone else to get me pushed through ASAP, I was given scans, smears and more scans and finally diagnosed ectopic. By 9am I was in surgery unfortunately the tube had ruptured. I wasn’t really given any aftercare or advise on support available.

We moved house Monday 350 miles so think I’ve been distracted but now I think everything is starting to settle the realisation is starting to set in
