Hi, wondered if anyone has had this experience? I had an ectopic in Oct which resulted in tube removal and then an early MC in Dec. We have given some time to try again and I am pregnant again. Had a 6 week scan today. Would be 6 weeks exactly from LMP. But I didnt ovulate until day 17 of my cycle (tested). So today showed a sac in my uterus which I thought was great, but been told this could still be ectopic?! or a MC or just too early to see the yolk. Having bloods done now. I thought I would at least be out of the ectopic woods but just feel anxious now. Have a family holiday in less than 3 weeks
Dear Soph,
I am sorry to hear of the worrying time you are going through. Its not easy.
It maybe that you ovulated a little later than you thought. It is good that they are completing bloods but they will also.need to do a blood test in 48hours time too look at the trend of the hCG level (as I am sure you are aware)
This may feel a bit like you have been here before, but I will send lots of positive thoughts for your next bloods/scans.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Hi Karen, it really does and I was praying I wouldn’t have to go through this again. Whilst I’ve only had one ectopic I’ve also had the MC so it’s all very surreal. It’s so scary to think a sac could still mean ectopic I was naive thinking a sac meant I was in the clear. My cycle has been a bit sporadic since MC varying from 38-28! This time I expected it based on ovulation at day 17 to be 32 days so not the atypical 28 that that work from…. I’m so worried. Xx
Dear Soph,
I wish I could take this worry away from you.
It may not feel like it, but it is good that they are being extra cautious in not excluding ectopic pregnancy even with a sac. You can sadly get an ectopic pregnancy and a pregnancy in the womb. Think of it as them really looking after you.
I hope they are going to complete further bloods in a few days to ser the trend in hCG. This will not diagnose or exclude an ectopic pregnancy but can guide medical professionals as to what could possibly be happening.
Keeping those positive thoughts your way,
Karen x

Hi Karen
Yes one thing I can’t fault is the thoroughness on this occasion.
My hcg on Tues was 180000 which is high compared to my prev ectopic and miscarriage not saying that means anything though, bloods again today and then at least will know later a bit more. I know my cycle was not going to be 28 days and more 32 based on ovulation so I’m hoping having the scan at that 6 weeks based on 28 cycle was jst a little early to see what they would usually as based on ovulation I would have been 5w 4 days.
All these thoughts & I know I’ve just got to wait!
Thanks for your support x
Hiya so my hcg was 17900 and has increased to 26400 so 47% which is not quite the 66% they like to see. So I am still in limbo. It’s so hard as they have seen something what they think is a sac but obviously this is empty. I hate that I’m still in the at risk category for ectopic let alone a maybe unviable pregnancy so both worries still there. They have said they will rescan me on Tuesday to see if anything has developed in terms of this sac before any further decisions are made
Dear Soph,
I am so sorry that you are unable to get answers, especially more positive ones.
I will be thinking of you on Tuesday,
Sending gentle hugs,
Karen x
