4-5 weeks preg, minor pains on good side, nothing on scan ?

Hi there,

I have a question for anyone who is going through this or has gone through it…

I found out last Friday (12dpo) I am pregnant again ( after having ectopic and right tube removed in dec 2015). So now i am so happy but so anxious.

During the two week wait, I first got pains on my bad side then it moved to my good side and now i get pains on and off on my good side.

I did another cb digital test on Tuesday (yesterday) and got 2-3 weeks on the indicator/estimator. I am now 17dpo i.e. 4weeks 6 days since my last period. i have no bleeding what so ever. I went for a scan today and the doctor couldn’t see anything, no sac, no mass in remaining tube, nothing… so he took bloods and i will get them in the morning. He also booked me in for another appointment next wednesday.

I am just really freaking out now… i am getting nosebleeds, feel emotional, have small niggly pains around my good tube area ( on and off).

My question: did anyone get these pains on your good side and see nothing on the scan but still have the embryo make its way to the uterus?

i am just worried it is going to be another ectopic - i feel so feeled with despair when i think of the thoughts of going through that again.

Hello sorry for all your worries! I had an ectopic and tube removal last year! Now 6 weeks pregnant and I also had pains on right

Side! Went for scan today and all good but remember you are really early and they may not see anything yet! Hope blood results go well and fingers crossed

Hi jj! Thanks for your reply. Blood came back at 536. Google went into overdrive on this this morning checking whether that was normal… I found posts from

women whose levels were much Higher than 536 at 4weeks so started to panic.

We didn’t want to tell anyone about pregnancy incase it ends horribly again… But because I got a bit panicky my husband asked his dad who is a gynecologist. He told us that 536 is pretty good for 4wks 6days and it’s far too early to see anything on scan. He also said that “pain” is far too subjective to go by so doctors only go by hcg levels and sonograms to check if it is ectopic or not. I don’t seem to have the pain today so that is a good sign. Just feel so so tired… At work I’m giving about 50% of my normal self which is so frustrating.

Roll on next week.

Completely understandable that you are so anxious about this pregnancy. Try to be assured that your levels don’t matter as long as they increase steadily (something like double in 48 hours). Plus I think it is pretty usual that the scan won’t pick up anything until your levels are over 1000. Try not to worry as there is nothing to worry about as yet.

I had niggly pains all over and I am now 16w and still get some little twinges off and on, things are more sensitive in there after ectopic I believe.

I had my first scan at 6 weeks and they could see sac and nothing more, didn’t get anything more than that until 8 weeks so don’t panic just yet. The wait is awful I know but try to stay positive !

All the best!

Hi, I had pains in my good side too, had convinced myself it was ectopic. I’m 5+2 today, had early scan today and they could see sac in the uterus, too early for anything else to be seen. So I think it is normal to have some pains as long as they aren’t severe and you don’t have bleeding too X

Hi sue,

I think we had our ectopic a around the same time :frowning:

I feel pregnant again 6 weeks after my tube removal and I’ll be 12 weeks on Monday.

I too had lots of pains in my good side and then they started in both side.

I don’t know if this helps but I had a scan at 5+4 because of the pain and they could see the pregnancy in my uterus.

I hope that it was just too soon for them to see anything, they told me at that stage in pregnancy it grows a mm every day!

The fact they could not see anything in your remaining tube is a good thing, you should ask for another scan when your around 6 weeks- they should Definately see something in your uterus by then!

I think what we have been through its inevitable to expect the worst! I’ve now had another scan at 8 weeks and paid for another at 10 weeks because I had no pregnancy symptoms and was convinced the baby had died. Even now I’m still worried- every twinge and pain constantly googling and making myself paranoid.

I am thinking of you at this time and hope with all my heart it was just too small for them to see!!

Good luck xxx

Thanks everyone for your responses. It is so reassuring to hear your stories.

The pain on my good side comes and goes. Didn’t have it the last two days and now today it’s back! :frowning:

I have stronger pregnancy symptoms this time than I did last time with the ectopic and no bleeding so that is a good sign. Roll on Wednesday to have the scan done. I’ll just try not to think about it in the meantime.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Hi everyone,

Just thought I would post my news here as an update… I got more pains on my good Side so started to freak out. hubby advised I call the hospital (probably to save him having to deal with a nervous wreck)

Anyway, I went in and they did a scan and saw that the baby is in the right place! So over joyed… They couldn’t see heartbeat just yet but the doctors says it looks really good!

They also said that the pain could be ligament pain and/or my uterus stretching as baby grows. Told me I can take two paracetamol if it gets worse (and that it is safe for baby).
