Hi. I’ve had 2 ectopic pregnancies, one managed with methotrexate and the second with surgery. Now I’ve been told I have another ectopic in my remaining tube. Anyone else with this experience?
Dear Smikes_5,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancies and losses, to experience one loss is difficult, to deal with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.
I personally haven’t had ectopic pregnancies on both sides but we do hear from women who have. I would take advice from your medical team, from what I understand they try their best to preserve the remaining tube but that obviously depends on individual circumstances.
Please continue to lean on us for as long as you need,
Sending much love,
Karen x

Hello,
I have also had 3 ectopics. My first one resulted in my tube being removed, my second and third were treated with methotrexate. They said the could not find my second and the third was growing in my ovary. All very weird and scary at the same time. My finance and I want to try one more time, and I have previously reached out on here seeking advise to see if anyone else has experienced this and what their doctors are saying.
Did the treat your third with methotrexate?
What are your doctors recommending now?
I’m so sorry you have to experience this, it is definitely one of the most difficult things I have ever experienced and not many people can understand. I am always here for you if you want to talk.

Hi. Thanks so much for replying. Unfortunately my reminding tube had to be removed… were now facing ivf as our only option, which is stressful since I turn 35 in 6 months and that is the age limit for my area.
The doctors have said my tubes were clearly both damaged/blocked/partially blocked. Still struggling to even believe that we’ve been so ‘unlucky’ to have had 3 ectopics and had both tubes removed!
At the same time I’ve just found out my sister is pregnant and although I’m really happy for her, I feel impossibly sad for how I will have to shove my grief aside throughout the holidays.
Would be really grateful to hear from anyone who has experienced several ectopics and/or those who have ultimately ended up on ivf?
Thanks. Steph
Hi Steph,
How are you getting on? I’m so sorry to hear about what you’re going through, what a stressful time.
I am in a similar situation. I have had 2 ectopics (one in each tube). Both resulted in surgery. I do have a tube remaining, however, they put some dye through it to see if it worked and it’s very scarred from the previous surgery so I have been referred for IVF. I have had a letter today with a referral date but the letter is very confusing. At the top it says ‘you have an appointment’ and at the bottom is says ‘do not attend, this is not an appointment’. Hopefully someone can clarify for me on Thursday. It’s tricky around the holidays.
Have you had the referral or talked to anyone about beginning IVF? So you can’t have IVF if you’re over 35?? I’ve not heard of that before, it seems really odd considering many people struggle to conceive as they get older! I hope once you’ve started the process it’ll all happen fairly quickly and that even if it does take a while, I’m sure it won’t matter if you turn 35 so long as you are already in the system.
Make sure you’re looking after yourself. If you need anyone to talk to, I am here.
Ellie
I had two one in each side. I will write an update later
