2nd ectopic what now?

Last Year I had an ectopic discovered at 6wks & lost my tube. Eventually fell pregnant again recently & had bleeding of old blood & some period like pain so was in hospital for observation & early scans. My 2nd scan showed something in my uterus but very small so was to be seen in a fornights time. Symptoms continued & I was getting on & off tummy cramps until they got too much to handle. Went into hospital & was sent for a laparoscopy to investigate. Turned out this was another ectopic & I have lost my remaining tube. Still shocked it has happened again & now no idea where we go from here. Been briefly told by my dr that we won’t get ivf as we both have a child each from previous relationships. Has anybody else had this problem?

Dear amy2017,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancies and losses. Experiencing one loss is difficult to deal with, having multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.

I do know that access to IVF varies across the country and as you mentioned your doctor only told you briefly about IVF, I would advise making a routine appointment to discuss options in detail with your GP. I have also added some information about IVF here:

There is no time frame for how long it takes us to heal emotionally and it is completely normal to feel anxious about the future. We will never forget our pregnancy or babies but we can learn to accept what has happened and crucially understand that it wasn’t our fault.

We will be here for you for as long as you need,

Sending much love,

Karen x
