Worried about 2nd Ectopic Pregnancy

Hiya,

I’ve never posted on anything like this before but I could really use some guidance.

I had an ectopic pregancy in September 2024 and was treated with methotrexate and thankfully did not require any tube removal.

I found out 2 days ago I am pregnant (4 weeks and 5 days). I called the EPU and booked my early scan for 4th August but ever since finding out I have been getting the some twinges on my right side, same as last time. I haven’t got any bleeding and wouldn’t say I am in paid just achy on my right side the exact same as last time.

Is there anything I can do before my scan to find out if this is another ectopic? The nurse I spoke to said 2 ectopics in a row is uncommon but I am so scared to go through it again.

Thank you for any help & advice x

Dear Taylor 0707,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy.

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

Unfortunately as there are sometimes no clear cut symptoms of ectopic pregnancy, it is very difficult to say whether these symptoms are normal pregnancy symptoms for you or not.

It is good to hear that you are being closely monitored and I would advise seeking medical advice with any new or worsening symptoms.

It’s easier said then done, but taking it easy, one step at a time, and creating some distractions can help pass the time until the scan.

I am thinking of you and sending positive thoughts,

Michele
