Hi, I’m new to all of this and was just hoping for abit if advice/reassurance realy based on your experiences. I discovered yesterday I had an eptopic preg and was rushed in for surgery, had right tube removed and was back at home by 6pm. Am sore now from the op…to be expected, just wondering when best to try for another baby, chances of getting pregnant with one tube, how long before next period is likley, how long am I likley to bleed for.etc etc. didn’t realy get much info yesterday as was abit of a rush and the leaflets I got were about surgery in general and that’s it. Thanks in advance ladies x
Hi charl123,
I’m so sorry you’ve gone through this, and sounds as though it was a real whirlwind experience for you.
This has only just happened, and you will have so many questions. What I can tell you is that time heals, and you need to take care of yourself, and let others take care of you, for a while.
From my experience, I was physically fine (ie, no pain, wounds healing well) in about a week, but I was very sad and grieving for much longer. I had a light bleed for a couple of days straight after my op, then first period came about three weeks after that. You might notice a change in your periods from now on… Mine are heavier and I get more cramps. The advice given to me was to wait 3 cycles before trying again, and this is important as you will have stitches internally too that need to heal.
I’m sorry that you weren’t given much advice yesterday, it sounds as though you should have had more professional support really.
In terms of your chances of conceiving again, it seems every woman is different, but browse through the recent ttc forums and you will find some success stories!
I’m so sorry again for you. The forums here are so supportive and everyone is lovely, so please talk to other ladies who have been through it too.
I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery.

Hi red fairy.thank you so much…I’m so sorry it’s taken this long to reply, I don’t get much chance to check mail.etc with my little boy zooming around! Lol.thank you for your reply it means a lot. and great to get some info(I have just got back from my gps who told me when I can take plasters off wounds.etc as I wasn’t even told that at the hospital)! Just can’t wait to get back to feeling normal and my body gets back in sync with itself. It was a massive whirlwind and every now and then hits me like a bomb what has happened.hope you are coping with this traumatic experience to and that you have good people around to help you. xx
You’re very welcome charl123.
I’m doing fine now thank you. We’re trying again now, and it’s surprising how positive I feel about it actually. Its still scary, but I know from using this forum that there’s still hope.
All the very best of luck to you.
