Was your ectopic your first pregnancy?

I was thinking about this last night, and I was wondering, how many of you had an EP during the first pregnancy and how many of you went on to have children?

My ep was my first pregnancy, and I guess I am looking for reassurance!

I have also added different options to get a clearer poll result

Thanks everyone

Was your ep your first pregnancy and did you go on to have children?

hey!

my ectopic was my 1st pregnancy and then fell pregnant about a year later which also ended in EP. i have no fallopian tubes left :frowning: so DP and i have to have IVF or ICSI. and im only 21!

but everybody is different so keep your chin up!!!

xx

My first pregnancy was a ruptured EP, 8 years later I had my DS (after 9 months TTC), two years later (mar 09) had a second ruptured EP. No tubes left now either so IVF is our only option too :frowning:

We are blessed to have our DS though which was a problem free pregnancy

My 1st pregnancy ended was a ruptured ectopic so the tube was gone. I got pregnant 7 months later which was a lovely surprise as we weren’t trying but just letting things run their course. My boy is now 13 months old and we’re expecting his sibling in August. Again, another lovely surprise (shock actually  ) as I had only came off the pill 2 months before.

So don’t give up hun xx

Hi everyone and thankyou for your replies!

Twiggy-I am pleased to say my little boy is due at the very start of september, so just a little after your next one

Became pregnant 2nd month back on clomid

Doctors are so depressing after an ectopic, I honestly thought I’d never have a healthy uterine pregnancy, but after being on these boards, seems like chances are, everything will be fine

My ep was my thrid pregnancy, then went on to have one more healthy baby.

My ep was my first pregnancy and a total shock to me. 9 months later got pregnant again, and it ended up being a miscarriage or a self resolving ep ( never got a clear answer by my ob/gyn). Exactly one year form the first ep, got a BFP and had a beautiful baby girl ( she’s 20 months now). Got pregnant again when the daughter was 13 months ( on the FIRST day of trying  ) and I am due in June. I can hardly believe that I have been pregnant 4 times in the last 3 years  When I had the first ep, I though I would never have a baby on my own. I was soooo wrong :stuck_out_tongue:

Hello,

I have just been through 6 weeks of hell with ectopic and yes it was my first ( I am 38, but very healthy for my age). I had expectant management to start with as the HCG seemed to be going down, then after what looked like a miscarriage bleed, the HCG started to go back up, then plateaued, then I collapsed, then came out of hospital, then went back in for a HCG check and was subsequently admitted for a laparoscopy, which ended in surgery and the tube being removed. Having said that. I was really impressed by the care given by my NHS hopsital and they are very positive about having a successful pregnancy, even given my age and the fact I have lost a tube. I was also told, that although they prefer to have seen a period (is that what AF means on here??) I could start trying as long as I have a negative test (I’ve decided to wait). I must admit, at first I didn’t want to try again for fear of going through that experience again, but as each day passes I am more positive. Especially as I have spoken to many friends who know people who had an ectopic and went on to have many kids, the hospital doctors and nurses also back this up.

How I have looked at it is this… when we first started trying, we were at 0% as we didn’t know if we both ‘worked’. Now having fallen pregnant, (which would have moved me to 100%) I have lost a tube so am now at 50%… well 50% is better than 0%!

It’s good to know there is support out there too  xxx

i had 2 miscarriages, then an ectopic losing my left tube.3 months after ep started trying again and had another miscarriage.

i am ecstatic now to say i am 24+5 weeks pregnant

Wow, had forgotten about this thread! But i am happy to say my second post ep baby was born 13 days ago, a little girl!

I know how lucky I am, and I cant believe how my journey has ended since initially trying to conceive!

xx
