TTC After surgery

Hello I am new to this site. 3 weeks ago I lost my right tube & it was the end of my pregnancy. I have been TTC right away although I’ve not had my period back yet. Has anyone else tried straight away? I would like to hear of any positive success stories. many thanks x

Hello,

I can’t really help but I had my right tube removed 5 weeks ago and still haven’t had my first period, although I am trying to track ovulation! I am tempted to just go for it and see what happens but feel scared to!

Did your surgeon say it was ok to try again straight away? Mine said there was no reason not to except for waiting for period just for dating purposes X

Hi Stacey,

They said it is advised to wait until you have your period but just for dates they said if I feel ok emotionally then no reason not to try. Have u been using an ovulation test? I wish my period would just hurry up so I can start again but I must admit I have been having sex anyway xx

Hello,

I had an ectopic on September 3rd and lost my right tube. I had confirmed ovulation on October 5th and I tried to conceive. I wasn’t successful and started my period on the 16th, but I do believe trying helped me heal emotionally. I don’t believe many people are successful conceiving first ovulation after surgery, but I think it’s worth a try.

Good luck!

Lots of baby dust to you both!

Elizabeth

Well just an update, my period has arrived 5 weeks and 1 day after surgery and I am strangely happy about it as I know now i have a LMP date if I do conceive straight away!

I do use ovulation sticks, I invested in the clearblue dual hormone kit, it’s a bit expensive but you can use your first morning urine and it gives you a smiley face if your are ovulating, unlike others where you have to interpret how strong the lines are and test a couple of times a day!

If I sit and think of it all too much it terrifys me to start trying again but I have to try and stay positive!

Good luck xx

Hi Elizabeth that’s great to hear ur period came back and now u can try again.

That’s fab Stacey I am looking forward to my period coming also. As I am only 3+1 weeks since my op I prob have a few weeks to go. I use that same test but haven’t used an ovulation kit since my op. I really hope we all have healthy pregnancies soon xxx

My Dr did advise us to wait after one full cycle to try again for dating purposes and to give uterine lining a chance to shed and become stronger. My hcg reached zero 2 weeks out, I ovulated 4 weeks out (temp and opk confirmed) and AF six weeks out. Now 5 dpo and in the dreaded tww, but happy to be trying again! I think getting back ttc has helped me move on big time. GL ladies!!

Sorry mags I don’t really know what the abbreviations mean? Apart from TTC lol.

I think it will help me also once I have a period and know for sure that I am ovulating, I am actually looking forward to it. I fell pregnant the first month I tried so I don’t c any reason it won’t happen fast again! Positive thoughts!!x

Just a wee update, my period has came back! 4 weeks exactly post op. So happy that I now can try again xxx

Another up date. I did fall pregnant again after loosing my right tube back in October 2015. I got a BFP June 2016 but it’s another ectopic. I have been given the methatrexate injection. So devastated, not sure I will ever have a baby now x

I’m so sorry to hear this. I can’t imagine how you must be feeling. I was treated for an eptopic in Match and we are TTC again and o am terrified it could be eptopic again, I honestly wouldn’t know how to cope. I really hope next time you have a positive outcome. X

Thanks Nicola. I never even imagined it would happen again, it’s just took the pure joy out of wanting/trying for a baby as I just worry it will happen again. Best of luck to u xx

I think you have to take each day as it comes. I hope you have supportive people around you at this difficult time. There are lots of people on these forums who have had multiple eptopics and gone on to have successful pregnancies. X
