When is too soon to TTC

1 week ago I had surgery for my ectopoc (left tube removed ) I am healing ok and I am going back to work tomorrow can’t stand being at home with my thoughts

Last year I suffered a MMC at 11 weeks baby died at 8 weeks so had surgery and then a MC at home at 6 weeks .

I can’t bear the wait and want to start TTC straight away the hospital was rubbish and no one really told me anything about that part of it . Is it u safe to do so ? Is it really only about dating etc … Has anyone got experience of falling pregnant after an EP and it being ok

I have managed to get the gp (after a fight) to refer now me for tests after 3 losses in a row . But even this is a wait.

We are lucky and have an amazing 3 year old but I dont want him to grow up lonely without a sibling .

Would appreciate your views /experience

Hi lula123,

I’m sorry to hear how tough a time you have had. I hope u are doing okay after your surgery last week,

I had my ectopic and left tube removed in March. I got my period five weeks later. So when I got my period I felt like it was my cycle starting up again and my body getting back to normal. Around the same time I had my follow up in the hospital and asked my consultant how long I needed to wait. He recommended waiting until after I had my second period in order to give my body a chance to get back to some kind of normal rhythm. So as soon as my second period finished which was a couple of days ago I started trying.

As far as I have read the main reason for waiting is for dating purposes if you were to become pregnant but I think they just tell you to wait also so you have a few weeks for your body to recover from the surgery and for your mind to process what happened. I think if someone had the Mtx shot they say to wait three months. And for people like ourselves who had surgery they recommend waiting two cycles. As far as I have been told anyway.

I like you was counting down the days to try again! Feel like I won’t be happy until I’m pregnant. Fingers crossed we won’t have to wait too long for some good news! xx

thanks for your reply .

its horriable to be in this position … Fingers cross we both and others reading this get their rainbows

my doctor said to wait two periods, the first bleed directly after the surgery he said does not count as a period. The total time was Just over two months. I think with miscarriages its for dating purposes because they don’t often cause damage, Ectopics do cause damage and it’s important to heal the area. My doctor also said if there is still swelling near the uterus you could have an increased risk of further problems. I found it really hard to wait and all I wanted was to be pregnant again. I distracted myself and just tried to get better. I’m glad I waited because it really takes a toll on you physically and emotionally but i didn’t realize that right away. But ultimately it’s your own decision and nobody can tell you what’s best for your situation. Whatever you decide I hope you take care and have better luck in the future.

Hi Hun iv have a very similar story to yours… I had a mmc at 13 weeks baby died at 9 weeks last year, then a month later had ectopic pregnancy… It was a dual pregnancy one in tube one in womb both had to be removed. I was so desperate for a baby that I tried straight away against docs orders… I got pregnant 2 months later and I’m now 30 weeks. This pregnancy has been full of agony from the start the pains from the surgery were immense with the womb stretching and everything else going on… I’m thrilled to be pregnant but just want to warn you that conceiving so quick hurts bad. I really hope you recover quick and best of luck xx

Hi Charl-26,

I’m sorry to hear about everything you’ve been through. But just wanted to congratulate you on your pregnancy. I’m glad all is going well… Exciting times ahead for you. Gives me a lot of hope for myself  x x
