Surgical scars bleeding a little.

Hi everyone,

I had an ectopic pregnancy last year in September and a tube removed. We started trying again after three months and got very lucky and conceived straight away (there is hope, for any ladies worried about reduced fertility!). I’m now 34 weeks along with our son but the surgical scars on my belly button from the laprascopy have started bleeding occasionally, especially when he kicks a lot. I’m wondering if anyone else had this and how worried should I be? I feel like I bug the midwife a lot already and don’t want to call if I’m worrying for nothing. Any advice /experience would be great. Thanks

Dear FMC122,

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Unfortunately I am not medically trained so cannot give you specific advice, I would speak to your midwife to asses you and the scar (you should never feel like you are taking up their time). You have every right to be concerned and ask questions.

Sending much love,

Karen x

Thanks Karen. I’ll give her a call this morning. Hopefully it’s just superficial.
