Hi everyone, I had my surgery 6 weeks ago to remove my ectopic pregnancy and associated tube. The wound in my bellybutton has been causing me trouble for most of the 6 weeks. It wept for the first few weeks and about 2 weeks ago it started to have a little blood in it to now bleeding every day, moreso in the evenings. 1.5 weeks ago the GP prescribed me an antibiotic cream, which I used for 7 days before taking a break as the pharmacist told me to(The gp never actually spoke to me… I got the cream prescribed via the receptionist!). Now it seems to be bleeding more and I guess I will start the cream again in the hope it helps. I saw my IVF doctor last week too and he looked at it and said it looks OK and may take another 3 weeks to heal from then.
I hate that I have to deal with this all on top of the ectopic pregnancy. It’s affecting my mental state constantly and I’m finding it hard to concentrate on anything else. I guess I’m just looking to know that I’m not alone? And maybe if anyone has any information they can point me too that might be useful, I would be grateful.
Dear EITobWith,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss and continued worries.
If your wound continues to ooze, I would advise speaking to your GP surgery and getting an appointment with a gp or practice nurse. They can assess your belly button area, prescribe further treatment if needed and even possibly complete a small swab to see if there is an infection that requires treatment.
Sending much love,
Karen x

Thank you. This time I stressed I needed to see a GP or nurse (previously I didn’t even get to speak to one let alone see one) and I promptly managed to get an appointment! I’ve got antibiotics which has already really helped.
