Belly button wound

I’m one week post op to remove my ectopic pregnancy and left tube.
Two of my incisions are healing amazing but my belly button just keeps bleeding - the nurse has said the scab has pulled away a bit.
I’m mostly noticing in the car, my belly is wobbling and it’s really pulling my incision. Would anyone recommend anything to support my stomach so when I move it’s not pulling on the scab so much? I’m thinking buying maternity leggings to hold me in but any advice would be appreciated

TIA

Dear Chelsiejd,
I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss.
Whilst i cannot advise any specific supports, i would advise keeping the area as dry as possible.
If the oozing continues, this maybe a sign of infection and i would advise going back to your medical team for advice. If you develop any spreading redness on the skin around your belly button that also feels warm to touch, our you feel unwell with flu like symptoms, please do this urgently.

Sending much love,
Karen x

Hi, sorry to hear you’re going through all this. I’m 4 weeks post-op and I had the same issue with my bellybutton wound. I covered mine with surgical plasters the type that don’t stick the wounds for about 3/4 days to give it a real change to heal as everything from underwear to leggings was irritating it. It healed so well and my stitches have now completely dissolved and my wounds look great xx

Can’t advise on clothing, I found baggy stuff best to let my belly air. I had two surgery’s and first time my belly button healed super quick and easy but second time it was not healing and GP wasn’t really helpful eventually they took a swab and told me it’s probably not infected but it turned out it was! I should’ve trusted my instinct! So definitely keep an eye on it and if it doesn’t seem to heal after a couple of weeks go and see the GP! X
