Should I keep trying or IVF will be my best shot now?

Had an EP in August 2023, expectant management. Started trying again in January 2024 but with no luck up till today. Decided to do a HSG test in august this year and results showed both tubes are open but one side with hydrosalpinx and the other side slightly narrow. Gynae said that there was nothing to be done and that I should consider IVF. I’m giving myself 3 months to see if HSG would help and time is nearly up. I’m 35 this year and worried for my egg quality. Anyone with a similar hsg test result? Is IVF really my best shot now? Really not looking forward to all the hormonal jabs required.

Dear WL,

I am so sorry to hear of your ectopic pregnancy loss, I do appreciate how frustrating it is when we do not conceive as quickly as we would like.

Unfortunately I am not a specialist in fertility medicine and we are not allowed to provide personalised medical advice. I would therefore discuss all options with your specialist to make the best decision for yourself and your family.

Sending much love,

Karen x

Have you done another other tests like AMH levels or your partner a sperm quality test?

I’m currently seeing an acupuncturist naturopathic doctor who specialises in fertility whilst I decide whether to naturally conceive again or do IVF but she’s really helped to regulate my hormones and advise on lifestyle and looking into other health factors. It’s designed to support medical journey as opposed to replacing it of course . It’s an investment but worth a look into it if sounds like it resonates well!
