Random pain post ectopic

Hi!

I have posted a few times :see_no_evil:

I had MTX 29th Nov and my HCG levels went below 20 around 15th Jan.

On the 20th Jan I had a scan to check a cyst and it showed the cyst and the ectopic were gone. I thought great, physical part over, mental processing can continue.

Since 27th Jan I’ve had stabbing pains around my left ovary, sometimes over in the right too, when I sit down I get a jolt that feels bruised down there, on Saturday and Sunday morning I had light, dark spotting and heavier discharge. But for the last for days I’ve had such bad pain on the afternoon/evening i can even walk and I’m struggling to sleep. I’m currently in the south of France as it’s my birthday Wednesday and it just sucks that I can’t properly enjoy it because of the pain and my partner and I can’t get intimate :frowning:

What could this pain be? I’m hoping it’s not ovulation pain because I am NOT suffering this every month for the rest of my life!?! Am I just bruised/scarred? Anyone else get this? Xxx

Dear Elephant,

It is normal to experience some pain after ectopic pregnancy as your body has been through a great ordeal. The pain could be due to adhesions or scar tissue which formed as part of your healing. It could also be due to heightened awareness because of your sad loss. You may also be feeling ovulation pain (many women including myself never felt ovulation pain before the ectopic pregnancy and experience these sensations after).

If the pain continues, I think it may be worth keeping a pain diary to record when you feel the pain (including when in your cycle), its intensity on a scale of 1-10 and if anything helps such as rest, a hot water bottle, paracetamol etc. I would suggest keeping these notes for about 4/6 weeks and then seeing your doctors with this information as it would help them determine how best to manage your symptoms.

You could try taking some simple over the counter pain relief to see If this helps however, if the pain worsens, I would advise seeking medical advice as there are also other reasons for abdominal pain which need to be reviewed.

I hope it settles and you get to enjoy your time away. Sending you happy birthday wishes for tomorrow.

Hi,

Did you find out what the pain was caused by? I’m having the same soreness but without heavy/bloody discharge?

Hi, I’m 99% it was ovulation pain because now I’m on my first period. It will suck if it was though! Hopefully it’s just that one time but I’ll be monitoring it over the next few weeks!

Thanks for replying! How long did you have the pain for? I feel like mine has been going on for over a week now

I hope yours goes soon! I had mine for about 4 days.
