Pregnant

Hi everyone.

I had an ectopic pregnancy (on the ovary) at the end of July, and have been going through loads of emotions and just coming to terms with what happened. Like many others it wasn’t exactly straightforward.

Anyway, I’ve now discovered that I am pregnant and immediately rang the EPU who said they will see me next week, 22 Dec, at 6 weeks. I’m finding it really stressful to be feeling pregnant and not knowing whether the pregnancy is ok (at least from an ectopic point of view). We were also looking to stay with my MIL in a ‘support bubble’ from this Saturday as she lives alone in another part of the country. So we’re having to rearrange to see her for a much shorter visit AND I don’t have certainty on what’s going on. I just so want to be happy about the pregnancy and it’s so frustrating her in the lead-up to Christmas…

Thanks for reading - felt good to write that out

Dear lunalife,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, I sadly have to remind you that if you experience any unusual bleeding, abdominal pain, shoulder tip pain, bladder or bowel problems or feel dizzy and unwell to seek urgent medical advice.

It is such a stressful time with Christmas, restrictions in our movements and awaiting a scan. I wish I had tips on making the time go faster, try to keep yourself busy and relaxed.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x
