Pregnant but worried!

Ive recently found out i was pregnant, after having an ectopic in 2015 where my left tube was removed, i belive the doctors said my right ovary & tube was ok and i still had a chance of conceiving albeit a bit harder.

My worry is ive had pain on and off for the past 4/5 days on the left side just beside my left hip bone … it doesn’t feel like the egg has implanted in the right place at all ans i fear another ectopic!

Its hard for me at the moment to go docs with certain family members around as i do not want them knowing as they were quite nasty last time!! My partner doesn’t know yet as id like to find out myself whats going on before telling him as i still don’t think he has recovered from the last ectopic x

Has anyone else been through the same? Has it been a bad experience or good. I honestly dont think its a good sign as the pain can be quite intense (although no bleeding yet, but then my last ectopic was pain with no blood … then few weeks later it all came out)

Please help/advise … i know i need to see a doctor but itl have to be after my daughters party unless anything happens before then.

P.s thank you

Dear LittleMiss12,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

If you are in the UK, we recommend you contact your local EPU to inform them and book in for an early scan at around six weeks. Remind them of your previous ectopic pregnancy. This self refer route is the best route in our view. Hopefully you will have some comfort to know you are under the radar of medical professionals right away.

Having said this, I do think that if you are currently feeling pain which seems unusual and is concerning you and, in particular, if you experience any bleeding or spotting, it is better to get checked out to be on the safe side. As pain is unique to each person and I have such limited information, it would be better to get professional medical assistance by someone who can examine you. I know you mention it is difficult at this time but visiting the Drs would give you peace of mind and, if you explain your previous ectopic pregnancy and the pains you are experiencing now, they would be able to check your symptoms and assist you.

Whilst I do not wish to alarm you, I do have to remind you that if you experience any unusual bleeding, abdominal pain, shoulder tip pain, bladder or bowel problems or feel dizzy and unwell please seek urgent medical advice.

Sending much love,

Karen x
