In July 2018 I had an ectopic pregnancy and I had my left tube removed. After my ectopic my husband and I decided to wait a while before trying again and at the beginning of this month we tried to conceive and on Saturday I had a strong positive pregnancy test. As I had an ectopic before we went to my GP this morning who rang the hospital and booked my scan for tomorrow. I couldn’t wait that long as my husband isn’t going to be able to make the appointment at the hospital tomorrow. I went for a private scan and they said they couldn’t find the gestational sac. They said my ovaries and remaining tube looked normal but no sac! She said it could be too early for a scan and my womb lining has definitely thickened - apparently 11mm thick. I’m now panicking it’s another ectopic but I have none of the symptoms I had last time! I conceived between 5-10 April. Is it simply too early?
My cycles have been a bit off since my ectopic and my last period was 16 March!
Hi Bhakti
Have you had further tests?
Yes, I went to the hospital today. My hcg levels are 1,280 and so that’s the reason they can’t see anything in the uterus as yet. There’s no signs of any mass or anything in my ovaries or remaining tube. They just think I’m actually only 4 weeks pregnant which doesn’t really add up with my calculations but im having another blood test tomorrow to make sure the hcg doubles and then should have another scan in 10 days.
Hope it all goes well for you. Please let us know. Fingers crossed for you.
Hi Bhakti
Did you get your bloods back?
Hiya
I did yes. Hcg almost doubled in 48 hours I was on Thursday 2260 compared to Tuesday when I was 1280. Consultant did another scan and they still couldn’t find anything. He didn’t seem too worried as he couldn’t see any mass anywhere else, I’m not in pain and there’s no free fluid or blood. My womb lining has thickened but no sac! I have another scan on Wednesday when I should be around 6 weeks. So I guess I have to just wait and see. The waiting is literally killing me!
Fingers crossed for you hope it all goes well keep us updated x
Dear Bhakti,
Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,
I am sorry to hear of the worrying time you are going through but it is good news that your hCG levels are doubling.
I also experienced something very similar, where nothing could be found on the scan. I had a scan a week later and the sac was identified, so it is utterly possible that it is just too early.
Try to keep yourself busy and occupied, but I know how you feel and the wait is so long.
Sending much love and positive thoughts for Wednesday,
Karen x

Unfortunately it is another ectopic. The baby is where my left tube was (had it removed last time) entering the womb. That’s how it was described to me. So in the womb lining?
I’m not in pain so I will be having the meth injection today. I just feel that I should not try having babies as it just doesn’t seem to end well. Two pregnancies and two ectopics!
Hi Bhakti
I’m so sorry to hear that. Please don’t give up you will get your Miracle baby you need to stay positive big hugs.
Thank you and good luck with your pregnancy!
