Looking like miscarriage after 1 ectopic and two previous mc

I had surgery for an ectopic pregnancy last September - after two other miscarriages at 5.5wks. I found out a few weeks ago that I am pregnancy again but had a reassurance scan which showed a gestational sac measuring 5w2d when by dates I am supposed to be 6 weeks.

The sonographer tried to suggest that I could have ovulated late but my cycles are usually between 24-26 days and I was using ovulation prediction kits and taking temperatures. I also got a positive pregnancy test on cycle day 23 so I’m keeping with ovulation around day 13.

It all seems really hopeless and after trying to be positive about the chances this time around when I first found out it seems like the chances are not good after all.

Dear Alexandra80,

I too was scanned early, they saw a gestational sac only. My hCG levels were at a level that they thought they should have seen more on the scan. They prepared me for the worst and sent me home. I had a scan a week later, and there was a little heartbeat.

I know it is so difficult to remain positive when we have experienced such heartbreak. I presume you are having further follow up with blood tests or a scan. I will keep positive for you but we will be here for you if needed

Thank you for replying Karen, it means a lot. Unfortunately I started bleeding today after spotting all weekend so I think that the pregnancy is ending. I have to wait til Friday to be re-scanned - they said to wait til then and come in even if I think I have miscarried to verify what is going on.

I feel like this is never going to have a happy ending for me.

I am so sorry to hear this, to experience one loss is difficult to deal with multiple losses is heartbreaking and my heart truly goes out to you.

If and when you feel ready to ttc again, it maybe worth talking to your GP about referral to a fertility specialist (if you wish). As you have sadly experienced multiple losses, they maybe able to investigate this further for you.

Please be kind to yourself and allow time to grieve, to heal both physically and emotionally. We will be here for you for as long as you need.
