Pregnant again. Seems ectopic

Hello,

Feeling quite overwhelmed as I write this.

I had an ectopic pregnancy in aug 2019 when my daughter was 6 months old. Really surprised to be pregnant and happy, then devastated to learn about the pregnancy. It seemed to take forever to diagnose and I was heartbroken. I had surgery to remove the tube.

Luckily we fell pregnant with our son in jan 2020 and had a healthy baby. I’ve just found out I’m pregnant again and I’m experiencing bleeding and a dull ache on my right side. It feels very similar to what happened before. I feel so lucky to be pregnant but so so scared of going thru another ectopic. It really does feel like one tho.

I’ve had a scan today and it’s too early to see anything. But I’m just praying that they’re in the right place.

Has anyone had a history of ectopics and then had bleeding in subsequent normal pregnancies?

Hope everyone waiting on scans gets good news. It’s such a stressful time xx

Hi Kimberley_j86,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy, but I am so sorry that you are going through this stressful time.

It can be difficult to see anything on a scan prior to 6 weeks. It is very common to feel twinges during the next pregnancy and some ladies do spot during early pregnancy too. However, I must post this with a note of caution and advise that you do seek medical advice if these symptoms continue or worsen.

Although not diagnostic they could complete serial HCG bloods to see what your levels are doing which would help give an indication into the pregnancy. I do not wish to worry you at all, but I would always air on the side of caution.

With good wishes,

Michele
