Pregnant again, same pain as before.

Hi,

I was diagnosed with an ectopic in October 2018 and was treated with methotrexate. This cycle was the first we could start trying after the 3 month wait and luckily we fell pregnant straight away. I am really happy but also terrified as even a few days before I got my positive test I’ve been having a dull backache which was what made me have concerns last time before being diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. I know sometimes back ache can be due to ligaments stretching whilst the body gets ready for pregnancy but I just can’t help but feel it’s going to be another ectopic. I will be booking my early scan tommorow and I suppose it’s just a waiting game until then.

Hi Abia,

A whispered congratulations. Many women feel anxious about future pregnancies after suffering ectopic pregnancies. I did and still do. It is very good that you have your early scanned booked, and that you will be looked after very soon. I know it’s easier said than done, but as much as you can do try not to stress too much before the scan. It is important to monitor your symptoms, and of course, if you have bleeding, sharp pains or shoulder tip pain, to have yourself seen at A&E.

With good wishes,

Michele
