Pregnant again following Ectopic & Miscarriage

Hi all,

I am 5 weeks 2 days pregnant following an ectopic & left tube removal in 2016 and a miscarriage in 2018.

I’m finding it really tough to relax because of my previous experiences. I have a dull niggle in my right side at the moment but no bleeding. I also had same niggle before my miscarriage but it was a small cyst on my ovary and not a second ectopic - baby was in correct place. With my ectopic I don’t remember having any pain but I did have the prune juice bleeding for a couple of days .

I am worrying myself sick that this could be a second ectopic but I know EPU won’t do anything until at least 6 weeks.

Any reassuring words are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Vicky

Dear Vicks8_2,

Whispered congratulations on your pregnancy,

After an ectopic pregnancy, finding we are pregnant again can be a mix of emotions and I can completely understand your feeling nervous. It is perfectly normal to feel scared after the ordeal you have endured. I also felt twinges and aches after my ectopic pregnancy, particularly when I next felt pregnant. My mind started racing and I was only really able to relax to some degree after my early scan. It is a nerve-wracking time and you have a friend here who understands how you are feeling.

Sadly I do have to remind you to seek urgent medical advice if you develop any worsening pain or bleeding.

Sending much love and positive thoughts,

Karen x

Hi Vicks,

Hoping that all is ok for you as I know how it feels to go through such a difficult and emotional rollercoaster in the hope of having a successful pregnancy. I have been TTC to conceive for 9 years. Due to sperm count issues I had 3 IVF with ICSI which all failed and in 2017 gave up on our dream. Miraculously in Jan this year I got pregnant spontaneously but sadly miscarried at 8 weeks. 2 months later I fell pregnant again which ended in an ectopic and I’m currently recovering from surgery as I lost my right Fallopian Tube. I want Ed to ask if you were treated medically or had a tube removal and if you found it difficult to get pregnant again? I’m petrified of trying and losing my one remaining tube. Wishing all the luck in the world

Hi Nineandwaiting,

Thank you for your kind words. I am sorry to hear of your losses. It’s so difficult to deal with but these forums give me so much comfort.

With my ectopic, I had surgery and I lost my left Fallopian tube. I fell pregnant one year later and baby was in th correct place. Sadly this ended in miscarriage but I am pregnant again one year on. It may take a bit longer but it can happen. I’ve been pregnant twice since so don’t lose hope. I remember after my surgery thinking it was over. I was crying to the surgeon and he told me you can get pregnant with one tube - it happens all the time.

Just hang on to the positive, you will get through it.
