So had my ectopic in 2018, on my right side. I did methotrexate so I didn’t lose my tube. Finally pregnant again after 2 years of infertility and medications to make me ovulate regularly again (I possibly have a pituitary gland problem, but I found I was pregnant days before it could be checked out w/MRI) Anyway, I’m barely pregnant. Just 4 weeks. My HCG levels seem promising as they’ve doubled in the right amount of time, but it’s still early. I also have side pain. I mean, I have mild cramps in my uterus, but just yesterday it started up on my right side too. I’ve had right-sided pain for years since my ectopic every time my period rolls around. I don’t know if it’s adhesions or what, and neither do my doctors. My tube seemed clear on ultrasound last time they checked. I just hate the waiting game and I feel like psychologically I might build it up in my mind. I probably won’t be able to tell if it’s ectopic or not for another two weeks. Any similar stories or words of wisdom?
A whispered congratulations on your pregnancy. I know how hard it can be in the early stages of pregnancy following our ectopic experiences. I’m not medically qualifed and am unable to comment upon the reasons for the pain you are experiencing, but as you mention, we can feel pain in these areas following our ectopics. With early pregnancy, there is much change in the uterus and this also can cause us to feel pain or stretching. Of course, it’s important to monitor the severeity of this pain and if there are changes, to consult your GPs or seek immediate A&E assistance.
I know it can be difficult to relax through these early pregnancy periods. I always provide that guidance, but truely know how difficult it can be. As much as possible, try to do so, and know that we are here for as long as you need.
With good wishes,
Michele
