Pregnant after Ectopic but spotting

I suffered an ectopic, August 2019 and had expectant management. Just found out pregnant again now, but have started to have light spotting for a few days now and can feel twinges in the same place as last year. Having bloods done as scan was too early yet to diagnose 2nd ectopic (about 4 weeks), but I have a feeling it is.

Looking for advice-if it is ectopic again, what treatment I should go for? If it’s the same tube as last time, feel it needs to be removed! Had Hycosy dye test which said tubes were clear in November, but it seems faulty to me!

Hi Pammy3,

I’m so sorry to hear you are going through this worrying time. It is very normal to feel anxious in future pregnancies after our ectopic losses. It is good that you are having the bloodwork done and that you are being seen by medical professionals. Every pregnancy and every body is different, and it’s impossible to say which treatments will be required. Not having a medical qualification, I cannot comment specifically on your situation. My best advice is to continue being monitored and followed up by the professionals.

Most importantly, and I know this is harder to do, but is to be gentle with yourself right now and try not to worry. I know this can be very difficult, but will be of good benefit for yourself and your body. No matter the outcome, we will be here for you throughout and for as long as you need it.

With good wishes,

Michele

Thanks Michele,

Unfortunately found out today it’s a miscarriage. It’s too early to know if even was another ectopic, hcg levels were so low, they were down to 20 so resolving itself (about 5-6 weeks)

Obviously devastated as this is my 2nd pregnancy and loss. Really trying to find ways/tests to figure out what’s going wrong. I know NHS won’t offer anything until 3rd miscarriage, but happy to look into privately. Any suggestions to what I can try next? Can’t handle much more of this.

Thanks

xx

Hi Pammy3,

I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering from this miscarriage. After two ectopics, I also had a miscarriage, and I couldn’t fathom going through these events again. There is so much in pregnancy that is uncertain, yet we never really discuss it until it happens to us. I never went down the IVF route. But I had to take ttc much more slowly than I ever expected. It was very difficult to abandon my timeline, but in the end, it also gave me time to heal and to mentally be prepared for whatever outcomes would come. Please keep being gentle with yourself during this time and take ttc in your own time.

With good wishes,

Michele
