I had an ectopic pregnancy and my left tube removed on December 15th. I waited to have one period before trying again and found out yesterday that I am now pregnant again.
I have been to the Drs who won’t take any blood but will refer me for a scan at 6 weeks. I’m only like 3 1/2 weeks pregnant now but I’m so scared it won’t be viable!!
I have had a few small stabby pains in my left side today and I’m hoping that’s a good sign because I have no tube over there…?
I’m wishing you a cautious congratulations! I did not have tube removal, but I was on methotrexate and after an HSG, became pregnant after 1 cycle (about 2 months after my HCG reached 0), so I can understand the rollercoaster of emotions from diagnosis with ectopic to becoming pregnant again. I know it seems a long time to wait, but I think its fairly common not to have blood taken until the 5-6 week mark (this was my experience). But you may also be able to get a scan at 6 weeks, which could let you know whether everything looks okay and is proceeding normally. I’m at 15 weeks today and am really ready for my next scan, which will be next week.
I had twingey pains all over in the early pregnancy, which I read is just a sign of your uterus stretching, so don’t worry too much!
Thankyou for your reply, it’s great news to hear yours was in the right place so did you not have a 12 week scan? did the pains frighten you? I’m a mental health nurse and help lots of people with anxiety but I’m a nervous wreck waiting for this scan! 24th Feb I think I’ll be having one, I get almost excited if I have pain on the left because there’s no tube there, and I think wow it must be ok- but then I notice the pain on the right and it makes me doubt it. So silly I can’t change the outcome but I hate the waiting expecting the worst but wishing so much for the best xxx
I also experienced stabby pains - to me it kind of felt like ovulation! I was worried as the majority of the time it was on the side where my tube was so I was getting really anxious, on the occasions it was on my tubless side I didn’t mind!
Anyway… I had a 5 week scan and baby had made it to my uterus so it was just stretching pains apparently!
Call your early pregnancy unit and they may ask you to go in to be sure.
Yes, I had a 12 week scan which was very reassuring, as everything was shown to be proceeding normally. The most comforting thing is to be able to hear the heartbeat. The pains frightened me but the weird thing for me was that during my ectopic I didn’t have any pains at all. So I couldn’t worry myself thinking I was having the same symptoms.
Good luck! Feb. 24 will be here before you know it!
Hi, aw thankyou so much that was lovely of you!! I over reacted to some trapped wind of Friday which resulted in a scan yesterday! It’s all in the right place which I’m so so pleased about, got a scan it two weeks to check for heartbeat because it couldn’t be seen but I was only 5+4 so hopefully all ok.
